This is a sacred mountain, as for over a thousand years there was a Christian pilgrimage. There’s much to know about Sliabh League, like the monks who went to Iceland or the eagle and the baby! The scenery all the way up to the Cliffs is spectacular with views of the Atlantic and the Sligo Mountains out in the distance. You also have a great view overlooking Donegal Bay. As you reach the summit you are rewarded with the most beautiful sight of the walk - the cliff face of Bunglas (which simply means "End of Cliff"). See the ruins of a watchtower (as per video below) at the end of Carrigan Head on your journey up also. This watchtower was constructed to defend the northwest coast during the early 19th century when there was the threat of a Napoleonic attack. We then pass through a lovely village called Carrick, before reaching a small harbour village called Teelin. Teelin has a famous Pub called "The Rusty Mackerel" where we stop for a rest. The name of the rusty mackerel came about because way back when there was no refrigeration, they would salt the mackerel in wooden barrels and this way they would keep for months on end without losing their freshness. One of these barrels can be seen still standing outside the front of the pub! Visit historic Donegal Town - home of the O'Donnell Clan and Donegal Castle, and is situated just on the edge of Donegal Bay. The centre of town, known locally as 'The Diamond', is surrounded by bustling cafes, shops, and bars. Stop at Killybegs Harbour which has long been acknowledged as Ireland’s leading fishing port, and a stroll along the pier gives a chance to admire the fishing boats, net menders, and perhaps even catch a glimpse of the seals. Arrive at the Hellfire Club – we disembark the bus and walk up to one of Ireland’s most lonely and infamous places. The burnt out shell of this haunted hunting lodge dating from 1725 is known for its association with Satanism, the supernatural and the occult. Be warned! Although this desolate place is miles from civilisation it has witnessed activities that should not be seen by anyone on this earthly plain. It is not unusual for visitors to experience head and chest tightness as their subconscious picks up on the horrors that this lonely hill has witnessed, it is not a place for the faint hearted! Once we have arrived you are rewarded with the best view of Dublin in the world! Don't forget your camera - a must for all budding photographers. See why this is the ideal location renowned by the darker side of Dublin gentry in the 1700s.  Our talented storyteller will recount the history of this place, including the destruction of the ancient megalithic monuments, the exhumation of the demonic statue and dwarf skeleton, to the evil rituals and events that took place here such as the black masses, human and animal sacrifices, and the infamous card game with the “cloven-hoofed visitor.” The historical "Haunted Hellfire" excursion will last approximately 2.5 hours (inclusive of travel time to and from the Dublin Mountains) Feel free to bring your own torch if don't have a phone. We run rain, hail or shine.  4) Sturdy Walking Shoes The Hellfire Club Dublin is perched atop a lonely peak in the mountains. To get there we need to walk for approx 20 minutes uphill. Please bring appropriate shoes for this! You will not enjoy yourself if your feet are sore and/or cold. This is an outdoor walking tour, and a basic level of fitness is required. 5) Flashlights or Mobile Phone with a similar facility There are no public artificial light sources in the Dublin Mountains, if you do have a handy flashlight please bring it along as the track up the mountain is unsealed and we may be walking in darkness at some points.

ITINERARY : 06:30  - Depart Dublin from Suffolk Street by the Molly Malone statue 10:00  - Game Of Thrones – Dark Hedges 11:00  - Traverse the Carrick-a-Rede Rope bridge 12:30  - Lunch 13:30  - Giant’s Causeway UNESCO Heritage site 15:15  - Dunluce Castle tour ( self-guided )  - As seen in Game of Thrones 19:45  - Arrive back in Dublin You depart early morning from Dublin heading North. We will have a comfort break on the way and then head into the Northern Irish countryside. Along the drive you will visit the Dark hedges, a picturesque tree-lined road that looks as if it comes straight out of a story book. The Dark Hedges represents the King’s Road in the famous television series “Game of Thrones” and is an avenue of beech trees with branches hanging over the road.. Next we visit and cross Carrick-a-Rede rope bridge which connects a 23m-deep and 20m-wide chasm between the mainland and a small island that has been used over the years by fishermen to place netting to capture migrating salmon.  Following a 20 minute scenic cliff walk, you can traverse the bridge to the island with its abundance of birdlife, and to enjoy the spectacular coastal views from a different vantage point. After lunch it is time for The Giants Causeway which is the highlight of the trip . This UNESCO World Heritage site consists of a series of over 40,000 hexagonal shaped rocks that looks like a grand set of stairs leading into the sea, the formation of which has been astounding generations. These awe-inspiring stones have resulted in inspiring many a myth and stories surrounding their origin, some of which your guide will just to be happy tell you in full technicolour! After the amazing Giants Causeway we continue to the spectacular Dunluce Castle, precariously perched on Cliffside , once home of the notorious McDonnell clan! This tour includes a self guided tour of Dunluce where you will get an insight to its fascinating history and the peerless family who owned it. Finally, you will arrive back in Dublin at around dinner time to reminisce about your northern adventure.
