This is a sacred mountain, as for over a thousand years there was a Christian pilgrimage. There’s much to know about Sliabh League, like the monks who went to Iceland or the eagle and the baby! The scenery all the way up to the Cliffs is spectacular with views of the Atlantic and the Sligo Mountains out in the distance. You also have a great view overlooking Donegal Bay. As you reach the summit you are rewarded with the most beautiful sight of the walk - the cliff face of Bunglas (which simply means "End of Cliff"). See the ruins of a watchtower (as per video below) at the end of Carrigan Head on your journey up also. This watchtower was constructed to defend the northwest coast during the early 19th century when there was the threat of a Napoleonic attack. We then pass through a lovely village called Carrick, before reaching a small harbour village called Teelin. Teelin has a famous Pub called "The Rusty Mackerel" where we stop for a rest. The name of the rusty mackerel came about because way back when there was no refrigeration, they would salt the mackerel in wooden barrels and this way they would keep for months on end without losing their freshness. One of these barrels can be seen still standing outside the front of the pub! Visit historic Donegal Town - home of the O'Donnell Clan and Donegal Castle, and is situated just on the edge of Donegal Bay. The centre of town, known locally as 'The Diamond', is surrounded by bustling cafes, shops, and bars. Stop at Killybegs Harbour which has long been acknowledged as Ireland’s leading fishing port, and a stroll along the pier gives a chance to admire the fishing boats, net menders, and perhaps even catch a glimpse of the seals. We’ll start on a block that has been key to Corktown’s revival, where BBQ, burgers, coffee, and craft cocktails beckon crowds of hungry and thirsty Detroiters. From here, you’ll take in the contrasting views of Detroit’s highs and lows. We’ll walk toward the massive Michigan Central Railroad Station, left for ruin and a symbol of the decline of Detroit. We’ll get a good look at this hulking structure, which has been ranked as one of the “must-see” abandoned buildings in the world. To contrast that, we’ll continue our Detroit walking tour past the charming, colorful Victorian houses of residential Corktown. This is Detroit’s oldest neighborhood, listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Your guide will point out some local faves, like a charming Irish tavern, an indie record store, a great deli, and a popular new brewpub. We’ll also hear about the new microbrewery, start-up hub, and technology center that are helping to define Corktown as the neighborhood to know. Along the way, your local guide will point out an early 19th-century church that’s one of oldest churches in Detroit. Hopefully by this point you’ve worked up an appetite for a visit to the new Detroit Institute of Bagels — yes, it’s as official as it sounds and for you bagel snobs out there (we see you, New York), they take traditional bagel-making seriously. Start your seventh-inning stretch as we return to Michigan Avenue for a mile-long stroll past The Greening of Detroit office (and learn a little about their tree-planting and beautification efforts), and to Ernie Harwell Park, the gone-but-not-forgotten former home of the Detroit Tigers. This was the home field for baseball greats like Ty Cobb, Hank Greenberg, and Al Kaline, and is where Nelson Mandela spoke shortly after his release from prison in South Africa. We’ll be sure to stop by Detroit Athletic Co. that started as a humble peanut stand and has grown to provide the best selection of sports swag. Along our Corktown tour, you’ll hear about the local funky spot for live music and art shows, and a favorite shop where you can get a “Coney dog” without having to go to Coney Island. Your local guide will also point out where to get some crazy-good shawarma sandwiches that Detroiters absolutely love, as well as epic burgers, wine, and charcuterie. Our colorful Detroit tour ends at a pot of gold in the Gaelic League Irish-American Club of Detroit. You may be a wee bit thirsty by the time we arrive, so we’ve got you covered with a complimentary half-pint. After the tour has officially ended, you’re free to stay at the Gaelic League for more beer or some Irish whiskey, or maybe you’ll want to visit the tasting room at Two James Distillery, or visit Batch Brewing Co., Brew Detroit, or one of the other great bars in Corktown. Travel through the Swan Valley to New Norcia, Australia’s only monastic town which is renowned for its Benedictine Abbey. Drive through the town and hear the local history before viewing the chapel and museum artefacts gifted to the monastery by Popes and Royalty of Spain. Visit the Famous Benedictine Community with a guided tour of the town and main sites including the museum and art gallery where you will find extraordinary artefacts dating back to when New Norcia was an Aboriginal mission.  Next we move on to the Abbey Church; home to one of only two large Moser organs, originally crafted in Germany, followed by a visit to St Gertrude’s College, a grand gothic style building which was originally built as a girl’s boarding school and opened in 1908. You then visit a produce shop selling olive oil, fruit, wine, New Norcia nut cake and breads before enjoying an included Fish and Chips lunch at the New Norcia Hotel. Following lunch you depart New Norcia for the iconic Swan Valley. The Swan Valley is the closest wine region to any capital city in Australia, whilst here take the opportunity to sample some of the regions famed providores offering such delights as chocolate, nougat and gourmet nuts. End the day with a gourmet personalised Australian Afternoon tea complete with wine before an early evening return to Perth.  Wildflower viewing stops are made in season. New Norcia Museum and Art Gallery A little piece of Spain comes alive in this town, full of history, art and architecture. The town’s main attraction is the museum and art gallery. In the museum you will find extraordinary artefacts dating back to when New Norcia was an Aboriginal mission, a hub for farming and a diverse town for education and culture. New Norcia Abbey Church and St Gertrude’s College The Abbey Church is home to one of only two large Moser organs, originally crafted in Germany, this organ was imported to Australia in the 1920s. Visit St Gertrude’s College, a grand gothic style building which was originally built as a girls boarding school and opened in 1908. New Norcia Hotel The New Norcia Hotel is an iconic landmark of the town filled with fascinating antique history. Whilst here enjoy a delicious fish and chips lunch with the opportunity to purchase a taster of the famous Abbey Ale. Swan Valley Wine Region The closest wine region to any capital city in Australia. The Swan Valley is world renowned for it’s long standing history in Western Australia’s wine industry, it is also commonly referred to as Perth’s Valley of Taste filled with a variety of providores offering such delights as chocolate, nougat and gourmet nuts. Wildflowers (Seasonal) Stop to view wildflowers throughout the tour whilst they are in season. Varieties include the orange flowering Christmas Tree, Kangaroo Paw, Banksia, Wattle and Everlastings.
